Owner / Master Barber

My name is Freddy Black, a Master Barber and owner of Freddy's Barbershop with 24 years of barbering experience.  I currently reside in Chesterfield, Virginia.  I have had a passion for barbering since the age of 13 where I began practicing on the kids in my neighborhood.

I started my career as an apprentice at Infinity Barber & Beauty Salon in Colonial Heights, Virginia in the Summer of 1995.  In addition to my apprenticeship, I took the Virginia State Board approved Barbering Course at the Richmond Technical Center in Richmond, Virginia.  After completing the course and apprenticeship, I passed my Virginia State Board Examination and became a licensed Barber in 1997.  I continued to work at Infinity until 1998 and then again from 1999 to 2001 and 2003 to 2011.  I worked at Hair It Iz in Petersburg, Virginia from 1998 to 1999 and Mint Conditions in Richmond, Virginia from 2001 to 2003 .

On April 1, 2011, I partnered with 2 other barbers and opened up Kut Kings Barber in Chester, Virginia.  I was a co-owner until June 2017.  To clear the air, Kut Kings Barbershop has not and is not going anywhere that I know of.  For the past few seasons, I have been praying on starting my own brand so I have continued to rent my space to do business as Freddy's Barbershop until I find a physical location to build and grow my brand.
